Bad breath or halitosis can be totally gross and humiliating! For sure, this is one condition you do not want to be inflicted with. However, if you are unfortunate to have it, you must find a cure for it and fast!

There are over the counter medications that can cure you of this rather confidence damaging disorder, but they can be very expensive. Fortunately, there are cheaper, and more natural alternatives to these OTC meds. In fact, you can even cure bad breath using stuffs you find in your own kitchen or backyard.

Often, the cause of halitosis is poor oral and dental hygiene. As such, regular and frequent brushing of teeth and tongue is essential. If you run out of toothpaste, you can use baking soda to brush your teeth with. Simply dip your toothbrush into the baking soda, and brush your teeth as you normally would.

After brushing, use a dental floss for your teeth. Flossing removes food particles that lodge in between the teeth that ordinary brushing alone cannot remove. This keeps plaque from developing, thereby preventing the accumulation of bacteria that cause the characteristic bad odor of halitosis.

When you’re done brushing and flossing your teeth, follow it up with mouthwash. The best mouthwash does not necessarily mean it has to be store brought. Actually, you can make your own mouthwash at home. Just mix a cup of lukewarm water and baking soda, or a cup of lukewarm water and salt or half a lemon juice, and gargle bad breath away.

Another home product you can use as a toothpaste or mouthwash is tea tree oil. Just place a few drops of the oil on your toothbrush alone or over your regular toothpaste. Tea tree oil is also good for gum health. If gum problems make your breath stink, tea tree oil may just be your solution to bad breath.

If you have mint leaves at home, chewing on them after eating offensive smelling foods can make your breath naturally fresh.

Other remedies you can make at home:

• Prepare this for bad breath by putting one teaspoon seeds in one liter cold water then simmer it for 15 minutes in low fire. Strained and drink as a tea.
