Cosmetic surgery is purely cosmetic and that means it is done to enhance the look and feel of your body. It can be done on many parts of the body like face, thighs, breast, nose and many more areas. Now plastic surgery is also the same as far as the surgery and the outcome goes but the plastic surgery may not be always intended for cosmetic reasons.

Going by pure semantics it is actually reconstructive surgery whereby some damaged or deformed part of the body is reconstructed with the help of surgery. A lot of people undergo this type of surgery because some birth defect or some have a damaged body part because of some accident. The surgery should be performed by a board certified plastic surgeon.

The surgery when complete can have a good outcome but the recovery process is a long painful process. Usually the cosmetic surgeons will make an incision or put stitches on the area which is not directly visible. This is done to make sure that the scars do not ruin your look and appearance. In most cases the scars remain hidden and are not apparent to person looking at you though in some cases the scars may be visible directly because of some surgical restrictions.

That is why mostly people will suggest going to a board certified plastic surgeon as he will have a good track record and will make sure that the plastic surgery after effects are not visible.

Next come the hard part, the long road to recovery. After the surgical procedure is over you may need to be in the hospital or the doctors facility for a day or two till the incision till the effect of anesthesia wears and also the tenderness of the stitches gone down a little bit. Make sure that you have your relatives and friends close to you for two things. One is emotional support which is definitely needed after the surgery and secondly for the physical support. As you recuperate you will need to all the help to get up from the bed and walk a few steps. With help you will not exert extra pressure on the sensitive stitches and you will heal faster. Sometimes the pain prolongs on the area on which surgery was done and you may need to visit your doctors quite often.

Make sure that you have enough material at hand to keep you busy like novels and reading materials. Ask someone to get you enough movie rentals to last for a week as you recuperate. If you have kids then make sure that you have alternative arrangements in place for babysitting them.

So make sure that you have built in adequate time on your schedule for this road to recovery. The main aim to not get impatient as there is light at the end of the tunnel.
