Unless you totally avoid having sex, there is a possibility that you will be infected by sexually transmitted disease. As a result, you should try to learn how you can protect yourself from this kind of diseases.

Sexually transmitted diseases or STDs in short, are diseases which will be transmitted during the action of sex. For some of such diseases, you will be infected through intercourse. Yet there are also other sexually transmitted diseases that can be transmitted even through oral sex. Genital herpes is certainly one of such diseases.

As mentioned, you will not need to worry about STDs if you are a person who will never have sex with the others. There is nearly no way for you to be infected if you will not have any sexual activity.

On the other hand, the chance of infection will not be very high if you have only one sex partner and you are at the same time the only partner of him / her. However, if one of you is a person who has multiple sex partners, the chance of infection will be a lot higher. Of course the chance will be even higher if you or your partner is a person who keeps searching for casual sex.

You may think that you will also be safe if your only sexual activity is masturbation. However, this is not totally true. You may use sex toys when you masturbate. There is still a chance for you to be infected if you will share sex toys with the others. For instance, a woman may also be infected by STDs if she shares a dildo with the others. Of course the chance of being infected will nearly be zero if you do not share sex toys.

You may wonder how you can protect yourself from STDs. In fact, one of the ways is to totally avoid having sex with the others. If you do not have sex with the others, there is no way for you to be infected. However, what you can only do will be masturbation in this case. Of course you will not be sharing sex toys with the others.

If you think that you will still have sex with the others, what you can to is to perform safe sex. This means that you should use a condom whenever you have sex. This will be the best way to protect yourself from STDs.
